MD5 & SHA Checksum Utility

MD5 & SHA Checksum Utility is a tool that allows you to generate CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 hashes of single or multiple files. You can also verify hashes with the matching file to ensure the file integrity is correct.

You may click on the Browse button to select a file/folder to generate hashes. Alternatively, you may also drag and drop or do a right-click on any file/folder to generate hashes. The generated hashes can be copied to clipboard or saved as CSV/HTML/TXT file.

Instruction to Generate hash

Tick on the hashes that you want to generate
Drag and drop a file into the program or use the Browse button to select a File
Selected hashes will be generated
Click on Copy All button if you want to copy all the selected hashes to clipboard (Useful for sharing hash with people)

Instruction to Verify hash

Download a software that provides MD5, SHA-1 & SHA-256 hash
Copy one of the hashes to clipboard (Ctrl + C)
Drag and drop the downloaded file into the program or use the Browse button to select the downloaded file
Selected hashes will be generated
Click on the Paste button
Click on the Verify button and the result will be displayed in a message box

Hello Ray,

What is the paid version #? I see the free is 2.1 and per the CNet download page, there have been 0 updates for the last 10 years. Is that right?

Or does the paid version get updates?

Just curious as if the paid version gets updates, I would gladly pay for this tool!

I assume it’s compatible with Windows 11?

Ci-dessous le message envoyé à checksum.utility@gmail.com mais apparemment, il n’y a pas moyen de sortir de ce problème, sur la page d’accueil de Paypal, il n’y a rien pour payer par carte bancaire, sur la page anglaise, dans le bas il y aurait soi-disant un “bouton” pour ça, mais je ne l’ai pas, ni sur la page en français, comment faire ? Merci.
Note : Pas de bloqueur de publicité activé, essayé aussi avec anti-Virus désactivé, et c’est pareil.

Thanks for the great software. I’ve been searching for a tool like this and finally came across yours. I bought the pro version since I needed the folder option. However, there is no option to compare the folders or to generate the hash and compare them with a different folder. This will be extremely useful for people who need to compare folder sets / backups from the generated hashes.

Is it possible to add the feature to compare the hash generated against a folder?

  Currently, for comparison, we can export the generated hashes file and use other free tools which are able to do comparison and highlight the differences. Some examples are Diff Checker (Online), Notepad++ (For Windows OS) & FileMerge (For Mac OS).

    Yes, I’ve been using that feature and then saving off the has as an Excel or HTML. How do I check the hash for the directory, if I’m moving the entire file directory to a removebale drive or network drive. How do I get each invidivual files Hash checked to ensure it was copied correctly?

      Hashing files is great, but I need to check that I have copied folders from one external drive to another. Just too many files to individually check.
      Can I either get a hash for a whole folder or is there a way to compare hashes from the .csv lists of individual file hashes.

        Thanks, I had a feeling that functionality was missing in this app. Maybe consider it for a future interation. It’s very cumbersome to have to create hashs for thousands of files (which can take many hours) twice (once on the source and then on copied drive), then run a dif on the 2 files.
